To strengthen the country’s contact tracing program in light of the increasing number of COVID-19 cases, the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) urged the public to use and patronize StaySafe.Ph digital contact tracing application.
According to the LTFRB memo, all PUV operators have been directed to “immediately transition from manual contact tracing form filling to the use of the StaySafe.ph app.”
This memorandum is allegedly by the mandate issued by the Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases in December 2020.
According to the IATF resolution, public transportation units must obtain a Safety Seal.
This seal requires the use of the StaySafe app, which is the primary contract tracing tool used by the government.
This is primarily for the prevention of COVID-19 transmission.
Apart from contract tracing, StaySafe.ph also includes a health condition reporting system and a system for social distancing.
All you need to do is register your mobile phone number. Following registration, you can now report your own and your family member’s health conditions.
If you are a registered user of the app, you will receive notifications regarding confirmed, probable, and suspected COVID-19 cases.
This enables users to avoid areas with a high risk of contracting COVID.
According to the memo, PUV operators must adhere to this regulation within 30 days. All operators must register an account on the StaySafe.ph app and generate their QR code.
Additionally, they should post the QR Code on the inside of their vehicles’ entrance doors so that passengers can easily view and scan it. All passengers must scan the QR code upon entering or exiting the car.
It states that they violate IATF health protocols if they do not adhere to the directive.
This offense will be punished appropriately.
Further, the said agency advised drivers, operators, and passengers to comply strictly with the minimum health standards and the seven public transportation commandments while inside the vehicle.
