As part of the latest update to its Speedtest app, Ookla has added a new tool for determining the highest video resolution that your cell phone carrier can support when streaming videos.
When you update the app, you’ll notice that a new Video tab has been added to the bottom of the page.
During this new test, the app will play a series of short clips to determine how good (or bad) the speed of your service provider is.
Once it has completed its task, the app will provide exciting statistics, such as load times and buffering percentages.
And, yes, it will inform you of the highest possible resolution that is compatible with your carrier’s mobile speed.
It’s a convenient feature that allows you to determine whether or not your service provider can deliver the speeds they promise.
Watching 4K videos on small phone displays, on the other hand, is arguably excessive and impractical in this day and age.
