According to Counterpoint data, realme overtook Xiaomi as the sixth-largest smartphone brand in the world for the first time in the second quarter of 2021.
In the April to June quarter, the company shipped 15 million smartphones, an impressive 135.1 percent increase over the same period last year.
Additionally, Realme is a top-five smartphone vendor in eighteen markets. It is currently the No. 1 smartphone brand in Bangladesh and the Philippines.
In fall 2018, the company debuted at No. 47 on Counterpoint’s rankings. It jumped to the 15th position less than a year later.
Realme entered the top ten smartphone brands for the first time in Q2 2019.
Realme now aspires to be a “global force.” In three years, it expects to double the volume of its smartphone sales.
The company intends to achieve its “double 100 million” growth goal by the end of 2022 and ship an additional 100 million phones by the end of 2023.
Madhav Sheth, Realme’s Vice President and CEO of Realme India & Europe, has been tasked with leading the company’s Latin American operations.
Realme hopes that its expansion into Latin America will assist it in meeting its sales targets and establishing itself as a leading technology brand.
Additionally, the company has stated that the GT series will now be its sole premium product line. Realme’s C, Narzo, and Digit series have been rebranded as “fixed product lines.”
Realme will continue to bring cutting-edge technology to the highly competitive budget segment with the Digit series.
While its budget phones are undeniably impressive, its flagship phones have yet to compete with the best Android phones.
Realme has promised that its future GT series phones will be significantly more special and will feature specifications capable of competing with “the best Android flagship devices on the market.”
